Codependency

Codependency can be taught at an early age and is characterized as an unhealthy reliance on toxic relationships. The codependent often loses their sense of identity trying to get validation through the approval of others. This can lead to low self esteem and open the door to abuse. I offer freedom from codependency through education on healthy boundary setting and assertive communication skills.

Anxiety

Anxiety plays a role in everyone’s life to some extent. Small amounts of it can be a motivator for change, but excessive anxiety and fear can be quite crippling. It can keep people from having the confidence to meet some of their goals. I treat anxiety through teaching progressive relaxation techniques, grounding exercises, and healthy living habits.

Trauma

Traumatic events and abuse can leave individuals feeling helpless and vulnerable. These can also lead to symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as well as depression and other conditions. I help individuals heal from abuse and other traumas through processing the painful emotions, teaching mindfulness, and ways to build a healthy sense of self. I now offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which can help with PTSD symptoms.

Depression

Depression can damper a person’s quality of life and leave them feeling unmotivated. There are different things that can contribute to depression such as life transitions, abuse, and the loss of a loved one. I treat depression through self esteem building, strengths identification, and helping a person develop positive self talk.

Therapy is an opportunity for an individual to navigate through overwhelming emotions that can interfere with their quality of life. I empower individuals through helping identify inner strengths and resiliency to help overcome personal challenges.
